President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received top executives from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in a courtesy visit at Malacañang Palace, marking a significant milestone in the Philippines’ renewable energy ambitions.

During the meeting, CIP reaffirmed its confidence in the country’s investment climate and announced its commitment to build a $3 billion offshore wind farm in Camarines Sur — its first project in Southeast Asia. The initiative is part of CIP’s global portfolio of greenfield renewable energy developments and signals a major boost to the Philippines’ clean energy transition.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro highlighted the strategic importance of the investment, citing the country’s favorable location and President Marcos’ strong push to shift away from fossil fuels. “This project reflects the high level of trust foreign investors have in the Philippines,” Castro said.

Founded in Denmark in 2012, CIP manages funds and invests in a wide range of renewable energy technologies worldwide. The firm established its Manila office in September 2024 and previously launched a windmill energy farm in Ilocos Norte during Marcos’ tenure as governor.

The meeting was attended by key government officials including Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, DOE Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, and representatives from the Board of Investments and Department of Foreign Affairs. CIP’s delegation was led by Managing Partner Jakob Baruel Poulsen and senior partners from its global leadership team.

President Marcos emphasized that the government remains committed to creating a sustainable and investor-friendly environment, ensuring that renewable energy becomes a cornerstone of national development.
