In a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus, top defense officials from four key Indo-Pacific nations gathered to discuss regional security cooperation and strategic alignment.
Philippine Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Marles, Japanese Minister of Defense Koizumi Shinjiro, and United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met in Kuala Lumpur to reaffirm their commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
The dialogue focused on enhancing joint maritime security, expanding defense interoperability, and strengthening crisis response mechanisms amid evolving geopolitical challenges. The ministers also emphasized the importance of multilateral defense exercises and capacity-building initiatives to ensure regional stability and resilience.
This meeting marks a significant step in deepening defense ties among key partners in the region, reinforcing shared values and collective security interests.
