President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived today at the Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO) in Gyeongju, South Korea to participate in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), joining fellow heads of state in a pivotal summit aimed at shaping the future of the region.

This year’s AELM, themed “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper,” underscores the shared vision of APEC economies to foster inclusive growth, embrace digital transformation, and address pressing global challenges. The theme aligns with the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2024, which envisions an open, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific community.

President Marcos Jr.’s attendance signals the Philippines’ steadfast commitment to regional cooperation and its active role in advancing economic integration and sustainability. His presence also highlights the country’s growing diplomatic engagement and strategic partnerships across the Asia-Pacific.

South Korea’s hosting of APEC 2025 marks a significant milestone—20 years since it last welcomed the forum in Busan in 2005. This year’s gathering in the historic city of Gyeongju brings together leaders to discuss pathways toward a more dynamic and interconnected future, with a strong emphasis on innovation and equitable development.

The President is expected to engage in high-level dialogues, bilateral meetings, and collaborative initiatives that reinforce the Philippines’ priorities in trade, climate action, and digital economy.
