In 1991, a small but determined group of medical volunteers launched a mission that would change thousands of lives. That mission of giving children hope was the beginning of the Philippine American Group of Educators and Surgeons (PAGES), an organization committed to providing free surgical care to children born with facial congenital anomalies such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

Now, 34 years later, PAGES remains a symbol of compassion and transformation. What began in the halls of Ospital ng Maynila and Saint Martin de Porres Charity Hospital has grown into a nationwide movement of healing and hope. In its first year alone, over 250 children received life-changing surgeries. Today, the impact continues to ripple across generations.

“These children are bright, joyful, and full of promise,” said Vid Figueras one of the PAGES founder. “But physical differences can lead to isolation, bullying, and missed opportunities. In just about an hour, a skilled surgeon can change that child’s life forever.”

In 2026, PAGES will make Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City its new home base, thanks to the full support of Hospital Chief Dr. Jef Villanueva and the blessing of Provincial Governor Dr. Angelina “Doktora Helen” Tan. With their leadership, PAGES will once again deliver no-cost surgical care to children from underserved communities.

The strength of PAGES lies in its volunteers—surgeons, nurses, and support staff who sacrifice time with their own families to serve others. Their dedication fuels the mission year after year, proving that kindness and service are timeless.

PAGES also acknowledges the generosity of its donors, whose financial and in-kind contributions make each mission possible. Every donation helps extend the reach of PAGES in bringing smiles to children who once feared ridicule and rejection.

As PAGES looks ahead to its 35th year, one thing remains clear: the power of a smile can change everything.
