President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has called on the public and political actors to allow the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to carry out its investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control and infrastructure projects without interference.
Speaking to reporters at Malacañang Palace, the President expressed confidence that the probe will clear his administration of any wrongdoing. “I am confident because I know what we did or did not do,” Marcos stated, emphasizing that the ICI was created to ensure impartial and evidence-based investigations.
The President dismissed attempts to link him to corruption as politically motivated, saying, “That is not about corruption. That is about politics. They want me out, so they’ll do whatever they can.”
He reiterated his trust in the ICI, which he described as being composed of individuals with “unquestionable reputations.” The commission is tasked with verifying reports, complaints, and information related to infrastructure anomalies.
“If we investigate, we investigate everybody. We’ll follow the evidence. And wherever that leads is not something that we try to direct or influence,” Marcos added.
The statement comes amid growing scrutiny over government infrastructure spending, particularly in flood control projects. The President’s remarks aim to reinforce his administration’s commitment to transparency and due process.
