A recent nationwide survey by OCTA Research reveals that 83 percent of Filipinos support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s decision to expose corruption in government, particularly in flood control projects.
The “Tugon ng Masa” survey, conducted from September 25 to 30, gathered responses from 1,200 adults across the country. Only 3 percent opposed the President’s move, while 13 percent remained undecided.
“These results indicate a strong reservoir of public goodwill and trust,” OCTA said, adding that transparency and consistent reform efforts could further boost confidence in government leadership.
When asked who should lead the investigation, 46 percent of respondents favored an independent body such as the proposed Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). The Senate and House of Representatives followed with 23 and 13 percent, respectively.
The survey also showed that 68 percent of Filipinos want corrupt officials and contractors held accountable. Meanwhile, 58 percent support the recovery of misused public funds and imprisonment of those found guilty. Respondents also called for better flood control implementation and stronger transparency in infrastructure projects.
OCTA concluded that the findings reflect a clear public mandate for justice, accountability, and long-term reform in government systems.
