Malacañang has thrown its full support behind a sweeping anti-corruption measure that would permanently bar contractors, suppliers, and project consultants found guilty of repeated violations in government infrastructure projects.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro announced that the Palace is backing the lifetime disqualification of erring entities under Republic Act No. 12009, also known as the New Government Procurement Act of 2024.

The law mandates perpetual blacklisting for individuals and companies who commit at least three violations of procurement regulations. The move is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s broader campaign to root out corruption and ensure transparency in public spending.

“This provision is expected to serve as a strong deterrent against the misuse of public funds and protect the welfare of Filipino citizens,” Castro said.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has also called for stricter enforcement of the law, emphasizing the need to raise penalties for those who neglect or abuse government contracts.

The announcement signals a more aggressive stance on accountability in infrastructure development, as the government seeks to restore public trust and attract responsible private sector partners.
