In the aftermath of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Northern Cebu, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has activated its first emergency medical tent at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City. The facility is now providing urgent care to patients affected by the disaster, with a second tent underway as medical needs continue to escalate.
Ten patients are currently receiving treatment inside the PRC medical tent, many of whom require stabilization or extended hospitalization after the quake overwhelmed the hospital’s capacity. PRC nurses and volunteers are working around the clock to deliver critical care and set up additional medical infrastructure.

Chairman Richard Gordon praised the swift response of PRC teams, noting that their tireless efforts reflect the organization’s commitment to alleviating suffering and restoring dignity in times of crisis.
“Our staff and volunteers embody the Red Cross spirit every day,” the PRC said in a statement. “We are here to serve, to heal, and to uplift.”
The deployment of medical tents is part of a broader emergency response strategy that includes food distribution, water supply, rescue operations, and psychosocial support for displaced families. As the situation unfolds, PRC remains on standby to expand its operations and coordinate closely with local government units and national agencies.
