The Philippines and Hungary have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral labor cooperation, following high-level discussions between officials from both countries.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan met with Dr. Szilvia Balogh, Deputy State Secretary for Employment and Programs of Hungary’s Ministry of National Economy, on 17 September 2025. During the meeting, Administrator Caunan presented OWWA’s key programs supporting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, emphasizing the agency’s role in promoting their welfare and protection.
Both parties agreed to sustain and enhance collaboration to ensure the ethical, legal, and orderly recruitment and employment of Filipino workers in Hungary.
Administrator Caunan’s visit coincided with the launch of the *Alagang OWWA Membership and Welfare Serbisyo Caravan* in Hungary, held from 16 to 17 September 2025. The initiative aims to bring OWWA’s services closer to OFWs in Europe, reinforcing the Philippine government’s commitment to their well-being abroad.
