Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., personally visited hospitalized officers who sustained injuries while maintaining peace and order during Sunday’s anti-corruption protest.

The rally, held near the People Power Monument, drew thousands of demonstrators and was marred by pockets of unrest. Despite the aggressive behavior of some participants, PNP personnel remained composed and committed to their mandate of public safety.

During his hospital rounds, PLTGEN Nartatez expressed deep appreciation for the officers’ courage and professionalism. “Your dedication in the face of adversity reflects the highest standards of police service,” he told the injured personnel. “The PNP leadership values your sacrifices and stands firmly behind you.”

The visit served as both a gesture of solidarity and a reaffirmation of the PNP’s commitment to upholding peace amid growing public demonstrations. Nartatez emphasized that while the right to protest is protected, law enforcement must also be respected in its role to safeguard lives and property.

The PNP has not released the exact number of injured personnel but confirmed that medical assistance and support are being provided. Investigations into the incidents of violence during the rally are ongoing.
