Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. has called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to maintain strict non-partisanship as they prepare to secure the first-ever parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on October 13.
The directive was issued during a command conference held at Camp Siongco in Datu Odin Sinsuat, attended by AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., Army Commander Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, and senior officials from the 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central.

“Teodoro reminded the AFP of the importance of non-partisanship and directed the military to protect the credibility of the proceedings,” the Department of National Defense (DND) said in a statement released Sunday night.
The meeting aimed to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process in BARMM, a milestone in the region’s democratic journey and peace-building efforts.
Teodoro reaffirmed the national government’s full support for the AFP, emphasizing the significance of the elections in advancing stability and self-governance in Mindanao. (PNA)
