President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos are set to embark on a State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from September 7 to 9, 2025, following an invitation from His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

The presidential couple will be formally welcomed by Acting Head of State and Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittiprittbindit Bun Rany Hun Sen, representing the Cambodian monarch.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

During the visit, President Marcos will hold high-level talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. Discussions will focus on enhancing collaboration in key areas such as:

– Combating transnational crimes 

– Improving regional connectivity 

– Advancing cooperation in agriculture, higher education, tourism, and cultural exchange

Boosting Trade and Business Links

President Marcos is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a roundtable meeting with major business leaders from both nations. The event aims to explore new avenues for trade diversification and expanded market access, with the goal of strengthening bilateral and intra-ASEAN commerce.

Honoring the Filipino Community in Cambodia

The President will meet with members of the Filipino community in Cambodia, many of whom work in education and service sectors. With over 7,000 Filipinos residing in the country, the visit will highlight their vital contributions to both Philippine and Cambodian socio-economic development.

A Reciprocal Visit and Historic Ties

This State Visit follows the official visit of Prime Minister Hun Manet to the Philippines in February 2025, and marks the first presidential-level visit to Cambodia since 2016. Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia were formally established on August 20, 1957.
