President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday welcomed participants from across the region to the WorldSkills Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Manila 2025.
“It is with great pride and joy that I welcome you all here to Manila,” said President Marcos in his speech during the opening ceremony of the international competition being held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
President Marcos urged Filipinos to extend the nation’s welcome and hospitality to the foreign delegates, mostly from ASEAN member-countries.
As the biggest competition to date, WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 gathers around 259 skilled youths from across the region to compete in 32 skill areas.
“To my fellow Filipinos, let us extend to our visitors the hospitality that we are known for—the same warmth that we shared nearly three decades ago when the Philippines first hosted the WorldSkills ASEAN in 1996,” said the President.
President Marcos also welcomed Timor-Leste, which is taking part in the competition for the first time.
The President invited the delegates and guests to experience the beauty of the Philippines.
“Go a little bit beyond the competition halls. Have a taste of our food, discover the richness of our culture, and feel the warmth of the Filipino people. Because here, you are home,” said President Marcos.
The Philippines is hosting the WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 from August 25 to 30, 2025.
Now in its 14th year, the biennial competition is considered the largest showcase of professional and technical skills in the ASEAN region.
