The Department of Energy (DOE) recently conducted its second reconnaissance survey in Palawan as part of a nationwide initiative to explore the country’s potential for white hydrogen—a naturally occurring energy source with a low carbon footprint.
Technical teams from the Energy Resource Development Bureau (ERDB) and Energy Research and Testing Laboratory Services (ERTLS) collected water, gas, and rock samples from hot springs and outcrops in Sofronio Española, Narra, and Puerto Princesa City.
The samples will be analyzed to guide a broader strategy for harnessing natural resources for clean energy. This effort is part of DOE’s push to expand the country’s energy sources and promote sustainable power solutions.
