Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco convened an emergency Tourism Response Operations Meeting in response to intensified rains affecting various tourism destinations across the country.

In a post on her official Facebook page, Secretary Frasco said the meeting was attended by DOT officials, regional directors, and heads of attached agencies to discuss coordinated measures to ensure the safety and welfare of both local and foreign tourists.

“We are working closely with the NDRRMC, PAGASA, the Coast Guard, DOTr, CAAP, PPA, and LGUs to ensure swift and coordinated action,” Frasco wrote.

The tourism chief noted that the DOT has already launched interventions to assist stranded travelers and is continuing efforts to support tourism workers and stakeholders affected by the severe weather.

As part of the department’s emergency response, the DOT Tourist Assistance Call Center is actively operating. Tourists in need of help or information may call 151-TOUR (8687).

Frasco assured the public that the DOT remains fully mobilized to protect both lives and livelihoods in affected tourism destinations, adding that the agency is committed to providing prompt assistance and updates as needed.
