Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and Deputy Speaker Duke Frasco were among the distinguished guests at Malacañan Palace on Wednesday evening, joining President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in the Vin d’Honneur—a diplomatic reception commemorating the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Secretary Frasco described the gathering as “an evening of unity,” expressing gratitude for being part of the historic occasion.
“An evening of unity at Malacañan. @dukefrasco and I are grateful to join President Ferdinand @bongbongmarcos Jr. and First Lady @lizamarcos for the Vin d’Honneur that celebrates the anniversary of our Philippine Independence and the enduring strength of spirit of the Filipino,” she wrote.
Secretary Frasco, who currently leads tourism recovery and promotion efforts under the Marcos administration, has been vocal in positioning the Philippines as a premier destination for sustainable and inclusive tourism. Deputy Speaker Frasco, meanwhile, remains active in legislative initiatives in the House of Representatives, particularly those that support development in the Visayas region.
Just days before the 127th Independence Day, Rep. Duke Frasco made waves for declining to sign a manifesto backing Speaker Martin Romualdez—a move that led to his expulsion from the National Unity Party. Frasco said his decision stemmed from constituents and lawmakers who felt unity had been overshadowed by political ambition.
