The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Qatar is closely in touch with local authorities to monitor the case and ensure the welfare of overseas Filipinos, some of whom have been identified as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were arrested and detained for illegal assembly in the host country.

The DMW, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Embassy in Doha, sent its Labor Attaché (also a lawyer) to the police station to provide all the necessary assistance to the affected OFWs.

In a statement released recently, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, assured OFWs of the Department’s full assistance. “Makasisiguro po kayo na patuloy po ang aming paglilingkod at paghahandog ng tulong at serbisyo sa ilalim ng liderato ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., para sa kapakanan at kinabukasan ng ating mga OFWs at ng kanilang mga pamilya,’ Secretary Cacdac said.

Secretary Cacdac reminds all OFWs to adhere to and respect the laws and customs of their host countries, particularly in regard to public gatherings and the expression of political views to avoid occurrence of similar incident.
