The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) stands ready in extending its full support to Filipinos affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, California.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac in a press briefing on Friday reported that there are 150 Filipinos who have been affected by the wildfires and being assisted and monitored by the Philippine Consulate General in LA.
The 150 Filipinos are permanent residents or green card holders in LA and do not fall under the jurisdictions of the DMW.

“We are under a one-country team approach sa Consulado natin sa LA, and we fully support the efforts of our Consul General there, and our Migrant Workers Office (MWO) is providing support to relief operations formed by the Consulate,” Secretary Cacdac said.
The DMW through its MWO in Los Angeles is actively monitoring the situation and ready to provide all the necessary assistance to OFWs who may be distressed or displaced by the unfortunate incident.
The MWO is also coordinating with the Filipino community (Filcom) in Los Angeles to ensure a swift and coordinated response if help is needed.
