An impactful outreach program aimed at raising awareness on human trafficking, particularly Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), organ trafficking, and health-related concerns, was successfully held on December 12, 2024 at Pasay City, Philippines. The event brought together a wide range of organizations and community members to address these critical social issues and provide empowerment to underserved families.

This outreach initiative was a collaborative effort led by several key organizations, including the Department of Justice – Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) NBI Cyber-TIP Monitoring Center (CTIPMC), the National Coordination Center Against OSAEC and CSAEM, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Pag-Abot Program, Exodus Philippines, and the Philippine Society of Nephrology.

Key highlights of the program included awareness sessions on human trafficking, particularly OSAEC, and organ trafficking, delivered by experts from the CTIPMC, Exodus Philippines, and the Philippine Society of Nephrology. Attendees were provided with valuable health advice, with a focus on kidney health and the dangers of illegal organ trade. In addition, children engaged in fun, interactive games that taught them about online safety and their rights, while families received access to government welfare services through the DSWD Pag-Abot Program. Exodus Philippines also showcased its advocacy efforts for trafficking survivors, emphasizing community involvement in combating these issues.

“Information plays a crucial role in our fight against human trafficking, it gives us the wisdom to innovate and act collectively to efficiently thwart this global menace away from our communities,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” C. Remulla said.

The program was attended by over 166 individuals, including local families and children, who actively participated in the sessions and activities. The event’s success highlighted the power of collaboration and community engagement in tackling critical issues like human trafficking, health awareness, and empowerment. Moving forward, the organizers emphasized the importance of continued partnerships and outreach efforts to create a lasting impact in improving public health and supporting vulnerable communities.
