The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) proudly unveiled its official logo during the “Collaborative Pathways: Advancing International Partnerships for OFWs” event held yesterday at the Susan V. Ople Building in Makati City.

DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay said the new logo symbolizes an OFW’s story of courage and determination, as well as the DMW’s commitment to supporting migrant workers. The rising sun also signifies hope and better opportunities for OFWs.

“Our new logo encapsulates the mission of the DMW—to offer hope and new opportunities for OFWs, while the seven rays (7) represent the seven government offices merged under the DMW,” said Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay.

The helping hands show the Department’s unwavering commitment to providing assistance and guidance to migrant workers; the hands’ colors are merged with the sun and stars to mirror the Philippine Flag, embodying unity and national pride.

The whites are the families left behind by the OFWs, highlighting the sacrifices that drive our migrant workers to succeed.

Secretary Hans Leo. J. Cacdac told the audience that the DMW held a competition for the logo design in November last year, and the awarding of winners was done early this year. He recalled that an OFW with a family member from Saudi Arabia won.

The DMW official logo was designed by Mr. John Jaeffer V. Javier, a freelance graphic artist and family member of an OFW working as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia.

The  logo  will be prominently featured on the Department’s official communications, including its website, social media platforms, peripherals such as back drops, presentations, merchandising items and all other future advocacy campaigns.

Witnesses during the unveiling of the DMW official logo were key government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, OFW leaders, advocates,  industry leaders both from the landbased and seabased sectors, DMW officials and personnel.
