The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) strongly supports the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in the 18-day campaign to end violence against women at pursuing a safe society under the recurring six-year theme, “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines”, of the United Nations.

The 2024 campaign aims to: raise public awareness about various forms and impact of VAW; emphasizing that VAW is a public crime; encourage safe, effective interventions in preventing and addressing VAW within communities, particularly in public spaces; and encourage individuals, communities, and government to work together to create a comprehensive response to VAW with strong focus on prevention.

DMW is at the forefront of giving protection to Filipino migrant workers, that include millions of women OFWs who are the most vulnerable to abuses.  With the establishment of now 41 Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs), the protection of our OFWs against forms of abuses and crimes is strengthened.
