The Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, lauded the heroic efforts of police officers deployed during the onslaught of Typhoon Kristine, praising their courage and dedication in the face of extreme danger.

“Our policemen have shown remarkable courage, putting their lives on the line to protect and save others,” Marbil said.

“From wading through dangerous floodwaters to evacuate children to safety, to rescuing entire families trapped in their homes, their selflessness and bravery are beyond measure,” he stressed.

As Typhoon Kristine wreaked havoc,  the PNP took swift action, spearheading rescue and relief operations across affected regions. Over 4,000 officers were dispatched to the hardest-hit areas, providing essential support in addressing the urgent needs of the affected communities.

In regions such as Bicol and Eastern Visayas, which bore the brunt of the storm, Disaster Response Units (DRUs) were rapidly deployed, along with personnel and mobility assets, to conduct large-scale rescue missions. The PNP also closely coordinated with local authorities in Bacoor, Cavite, where teams rescued residents trapped by rising floodwaters.

The top cop also highlighted the ongoing efforts in the Province of Batangas, where landslides buried homes and residents. PNP personnel, alongside rescue teams, are tirelessly working to recover victims and aid affected families despite difficult terrain and ongoing rain. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. The entire PNP stands with you during this difficult time,” Marbil said.

“Each act of heroism by our police officers brings hope to those in danger. They are more than just peacekeepers; they are the lifeline for our fellow Filipinos in times of crisis,” Marbil added.

The relentless efforts of PNP personnel have so far resulted in the safe evacuation of more than 300,000 individuals to temporary shelters. Ongoing operations continue to focus on distributing relief goods and providing medical assistance to communities in need.

Gen. Marbil emphasized that the commitment of every police officer on the ground is a reflection of their deep-seated duty to serve and protect, even under the most difficult circumstances.

“To all the men and women in uniform, your sacrifices are invaluable. What you do today not only saves lives but secures the future of our people. Your dedication makes the entire nation proud,” Gen. Marbil concluded.

The PNP urges the public to remain vigilant, stay informed by following official updates, and cooperate with local authorities as relief and recovery efforts continue.
