Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, together with DMW senior officials, meets with International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Director Khalid Hassan to discuss areas of collaboration in promoting safe migration and decent work for Filipino migrant workers during the latter’s courtesy call today, October 14, 2024, at DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City.

Both parties agreed to collaborate in promoting a safe and secure working environment for OFWs from every stage of their labor migration journey—from recruitment until their eventual reintegration.

The Secretary also reaffirmed the DMW’s firm commitment to supporting the implementation of ongoing ILO migration projects, such as the Ship to Shore Rights initiative, which aims to safeguard the rights and welfare of migrant workers in the fishing and seafood processing sectors in Southeast Asia.

The ILO, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the DMW for its significant inputs in the development of the Safe Migration and Decent Work for Climate Change Resilience in ASEAN, which aims to support innovative and inclusive approaches in improving labor migration and climate change governance.
